Event description
Suicide First Aid Lite teaches the knowledge and understanding to help someone having thoughts of suicide

As any of us could, at any time, encounter a person having suicidal thoughts, this training is open to a wide variety of staff and volunteers working with adults, children and families. It is free at the point of access.
Training objectives

  • Provide understanding of suicide behaviour, reasons and magnitude of the community health problem

  • Teach the skills needed to identify someone thinking about suicide and connect that person to further appropriate support

  • Examine common misconceptions about suicide and how these relate to stigma

  • Provide safe space for discussion of the impact of suicide

Learning outcomes

  • Understand and recognise the risk-factors and signs that someone might be at risk of suicide

  • Be confident to respond to those at risk of suicide and connect the individual with further support.

  • Have increased confidence and reduced anxiety in dealing with suicide

  • Understand the importance of self-reflection and the personal impact of working with suicide and people at risk
