Learning from Experience - Safety of Children Looked After (session two)

Event/course summary This workshop will provide an opportunity to reflect on the key learning from two national learning reviews involving foster carers from Croydon and Hackney. The focus will be on the findings from both of these reviews and one local review presented by Ruth Lacey - Head of Head of Service - Safeguarding Standards Children’s Specialist Services
Aims Practitioners working with children in care and care experienced young people will be able to hear about the key learning from Croydon, Hackney and local learning from Wandsworth. Following presentations from an adult survivor and a foster carers, there will be a workshop enabling practitioners to reflect on 'Making a difference' 
Learning outcomes - skills and knowledge The workshop will focus on the practice issues that led to the traumatic abusive experiences of the children and young people at a time when they should have been afforded the greatest of care.
Intended impact on practice This event will seek to explore the challenges with a focus on what we can learn and how we can be the conduit to making a difference.

There will be a 30 min opportunity for networking in-between the two sessions.

Information about trainer(s) Guest Speaker: Keith Ibbetson has an established reputation as the author of a number of serious case reviews. The workshop will focus on the practice issues that led to the traumatic abusive experiences of the children and young people at a time when they should have been afforded the greatest of care. Keith provides a clear focus, communicating findings to enable successful implementation. Following presentations, there will be an opportunity for practitioners to reflect on 'making a difference'
